Toronto Maple Leafs land veteran from Ontario in trade deadline deal

The Toronto Maple Leafs have officially made their first move of trade deadline day.Per the Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, the Leafs have acquired 30-year-old centre Scott Laughton from the Philadelphia Flyers.He is in the fourth year of a five-year contract worth USD$3 million per season.As per The Athletic's Chris Johnston, the Flyers will be retaining half of Laughton's contract, while the Leafs will be sending Nikita Grebenkin to Philadelphia as well as a first-round pick, a fourth-round pick, and sixth-round pick.TSN's Pierre LeBrun added that the first-round pick is for 2027, and it is top-10 protected, meaning it'd slide another year in Toronto ended up drafting within the top-10.Laughton has 11 goals and 16 assists for a total of 27 points in 60 games for the Flyers this season.
