Rubio said that Ukraine has a ‘right to defend themselves’ and requires a deterrent to future Russian aggression.
During a stopover in Shannon, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that European allies need to be involved in any eventual deal on Ukraine, especially regarding sanctions. He emphasized the need for negotiation, a ceasefire, prisoner and child repatriation, and long-term security for Ukraine, including a deterrent to future Russian aggression. He was traveling from a US-Ukraine meeting in Saudi Arabia to a G7 foreign ministers meeting in Quebec.
