Minister apologises for mathematical error in infected blood compensation offers

Baroness Anderson of Stoke-on-Trent told the House of Lords that those impacted were reached out to on Wednesday to inform them of the mistake.



The government apologized for a mathematical error in the 2024 regulations for infected blood compensation, affecting a small number of recipients. Corrected in draft 2025 regulations, those affected will receive the correct compensation plus an additional payment. New regulations extend the scheme and offer supplementary routes, but concerns remain about delays and divergence from inquiry recommendations. As of March 14, over £44 million has been paid in compensation.
