Morrisons to close café in its Bathgate supermarket as company looks to cut costs

The grocery retailer is also closing 17 stores around the UK

Morrisons is closing its Bathgate supermarket café, along with 51 other cafés and several in-store services across the UK, including market kitchens, florists, meat counters, fish counters and pharmacies, putting around 365 jobs at risk. The closures are part of a cost-cutting plan despite increased sales and profits, driven by competition from discount supermarkets. Morrisons aims to redeploy most staff and partner with third parties to provide specialist offers in some stores.
