New possible stroke treatment identified by scientists in newly released study

Approximately 15,000 people have a stroke in Scotland each year.



A University of Iowa study in rodents suggests uric acid may be a potential add-on therapy to standard stroke treatments for ischemic stroke, improving long-term brain function, although it doesn't reduce brain damage. Human clinical trials are being considered.
