IOC President Thomas Bach attributes the gender row surrounding two boxers at the Paris 2024 Olympics to a Russian fake news campaign orchestrated by the IBA, the boxing association stripped of recognition by the IOC. Bach stated that the controversy, involving Imane Khelif of Algeria and Lin Yu-ting of Chinese Taipei, was unfounded as both had competed without issue previously. He also expressed confidence in the preparations for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics and boxing's potential inclusion in the program.
