One person charged after fire breaks out at northwest Calgary motel

A fire broke out at the Motel Village in northwest Calgary on Thursday night, resulting in one person being charged. The fire, which was contained to one suite, was extinguished in about 20 minutes. The room was significantly damaged, but the number of people inside at the time was unclear. Guests and employees were allowed to return after the fire was cleared around 1 a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation, with police indicating it could be criminal.
