Significant amount of smoke from blaze, second alarm called as a precaution
A fire broke out at Motel Village in northwest Calgary on Thursday night, with one person charged in connection. Significant smoke led to a second alarm as a precaution. The fire, contained to one suite, was extinguished in 20 minutes. The cause remains unknown but could be criminal. The motel has 70 rooms across two floors, and guests and employees were allowed back after the scene was cleared around 1 a.m.
