Maruška Vizek highlights that the real growth of average net wages in 2023 was unusually high, contributing to this cycle. Despite increased wages, productivity has declined, leading to rising prices. This creates a feedback loop where higher wages drive up prices, prompting further wage demands and inflation. The spiral is sustained by high GDP growth, public spending, and European funds, alongside a perception of higher inflation than reality. Additionally, tourism is affected, with spending down in 2024 and expected to continue declining in 2025. Halting this spiral is challenging due to current economic conditions.
