Panda to place cameras in bin lorries to ‘educate’ households that don’t segregate waste

Panda, an Irish waste management company, will install cameras on bin lorries to detect and photograph incorrectly sorted waste in household bins. This initiative aims to educate households, reduce recycling contamination, and potentially lead to higher charges for those who consistently fail to separate waste correctly. Following a successful trial, other waste companies are expected to adopt the technology. The initiative, estimated to cost €15-€20 million, will also target materials incorrectly placed in general waste bins.
