Parts of Ontario, Quebec brace for third day of a winter storm as lake effect snow expected
Quebec is under a blowing snow advisory, with winds up to 70 km/h causing reduced visibility and snow drifts. Southern Quebec experienced a second major snowstorm, adding 40 cm of snow in some areas, surpassing last year's total. Travel is hazardous, and snow removal operations in Montreal are expected to take at least eight days, involving 3,000 workers and 2,500 vehicles. Schools in the greater Montreal area are closed, and garbage collection is suspended. In Ontario, Toronto is also dealing with significant snowfall, with snow clearing efforts anticipated to take up to three weeks. Air traffic at Toronto's Pearson and Montreal's Trudeau airports has returned to normal after delays.
