Toronto winter storms may take 3 weeks to clear with snow removal: city
The City of Toronto has announced that clearing snow from recent winter storms may take up to three weeks. Over 45 cm of snow has fallen in the past week, with a parking ban in effect on designated routes, resulting in 2,300 tickets issued. Barbara Gray, the city's transportation general manager, emphasized that snow removal is essential and will prioritize main streets, sidewalks, transit areas, hospitals, and schools. The snow volume has surpassed that of the major 2022 snowstorm. Toronto Pearson Airport reported 63 cm of snow over three storms, exceeding the 2023-24 season's total. Environment Canada lifted Toronto's storm warning but maintained it for Bruce Peninsula and Georgian Bay, expecting 30-60 cm of snow. The OPP reported over 100 collisions and stranded vehicles in the Greater Toronto-Hamilton Area.
