Plans to inspect aircraft suspected of carrying weapons to Israel in doubt

Officials conscious of the reaction of Trump administration to any efforts to inspect Israel-bound flights from the US

Plans to inspect Israel-bound aircraft suspected of carrying weapons, proposed by former Transport Minister Eamon Ryan to deter weapon transport from the US to Israel, are now in doubt. The plans, which included aircraft searches and sanctions for breaches, followed reports of unauthorized munitions flights through Irish airspace. Concerns include the potential reaction from the Trump administration and the current ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, making the implementation less urgent. Legislation for an inspection regime was briefed to the new Transport Minister, Darragh O'Brien.
