Professor Emeritus Lee Grodzins, pioneer in nuclear physics, dies at 98

MIT Professor Emeritus Lee Grodzins, a nuclear physics pioneer, died on March 6 at age 98. He was a faculty member for 40 years, initiated the relativistic heavy-ion physics program, co-founded the Union of Concerned Scientists, and performed groundbreaking studies of the weak interaction. Born in 1926 to immigrant parents, he is survived by his family.
