The Electricity Authority (EAC) in Cyprus has warned the public to use electrical devices properly to prevent fires, emphasizing the importance of EU certification. Recent statistics show 12 fires in 2025, 89 in 2024, and 123 in 2023, many linked to short circuits and devices. Safety guidelines include placing heating devices on stable surfaces and ensuring direct socket connections. The EAC conducts inspections in public areas, while the Consumer Protection Service has reported 574 safety alerts on dangerous devices from 2021 to 2025.
