Quebec Sees Deeper Deficit, Slower Growth as Trade War Bites

Quebec, Canada’s second-largest province, forecast a staggering C$13.6 billion ($9.5 billion) deficit for the next fiscal year and warned that the budget outlook depends on the duration and severity of the trade war with the US.



Quebec forecasts a C$13.6 billion deficit for the next fiscal year, with growth expected to slow to 1.1% this year and 1.4% next year due to the US trade war, which is projected to dampen growth by 0.7 percentage points for 2025 and 2026.
