Reps committee gives Galaxy Backbone 72 hours to explain contracts, tax breaches

The House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee on Wednesday issued a 72-hour ultimatum to information and communication services provider, Galaxy Backbone, over allegations of financial irregularities and violations of contractual regulations amounting to billions of naira. The decision was reached during a public hearing at the National Assembly Complex, chaired by the committee’s chairman, Mr Read More

The House of Representatives' Public Accounts Committee issued Galaxy Backbone a 72-hour ultimatum to explain alleged financial irregularities, including tax breaches totaling N329.85 million and e-payment infractions. The committee also questioned a payment to a U.S.-based company, ST Engineering, and demanded relevant documents. Galaxy Backbone was instructed to reappear for further hearing on February 27. Additionally, the committee examined financial discrepancies involving the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, rejecting claims that issues were inherited from a previous administration. An ad hoc committee was formed to investigate further.
