Scots boxing great Dick McTaggart dies aged 89 as tributes paid to Olympic hero

Heralded as one of the greatest boxers the country has ever produced, the Dundonian boasted a remarkable 610 wins from 634 fights.



Scots boxing legend Dick McTaggart, Scotland's only Olympic champion boxer, has died at age 89. He won gold at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics and bronze at the 1960 Rome Olympics. McTaggart was awarded an MBE, inducted into boxing halls of fame, and is remembered as Dundee's greatest athlete, immortalized with a statue at St Francis Amateur Boxing Club.
