Rail passenger numbers between Galway and Athenry increased by 27% to 290,000 last year, while Oranmore to Galway saw a 26% rise to 123,000. Overall, passenger numbers along the Limerick-Galway line increased by 17%. Work is set to begin on a new platform and passing loop at Oranmore to boost capacity.
