Brendan ‘Bik’ McFarlane led a mass break-out in September 1983

Gerry Adams and Pearse Doherty of Sinn Féin attended the Belfast funeral of Brendan "Bik" McFarlane, a former senior IRA member and OC during the 1981 hunger strikes, who was imprisoned for a 1975 bombing and led a 1983 mass prison escape.
