Staff at Lucy Letby hospital could face manslaughter charges, say police

Letby is serving 15 whole-life orders after she was convicted across two trials

Police are investigating potential gross negligence manslaughter charges against staff at the Countess of Chester Hospital, where Lucy Letby murdered seven infants and attempted to murder seven others. This is in addition to a previously announced corporate manslaughter investigation. The investigation spans deaths and non-fatal collapses at Countess of Chester and Liverpool Women's Hospital neonatal units between 2012 and 2016. Separately, Letby's legal team hopes her case will be reviewed by the Court of Appeal, and a public inquiry is ongoing.
