Starbucks drive through and electric vehicle charging points plan opposed

Councillors in Wales have opposed plans for a new Starbucks drive-through and electric vehicle (EV) charging hub on the border of Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT) and Caerphilly. The proposal, submitted by the Magic Bean Company, included a drive-through coffee shop with 20 jobs, 35 parking spaces, and 12 ultra-rapid EV charging units capable of charging 0% to 80% in 20 minutes. Despite planning officers supporting the development to boost EV infrastructure and meet carbon-neutral goals, councillors raised concerns over location, highways, and environmental impacts. The application was rejected at a February 13 meeting.
