State Education Departments Warned to Nix DEI Policies or Lose Federal Funding

The U.S. Department of Education (DOE) has warned state education departments to remove diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies within two weeks or risk losing federal funding. The DOE's Office for Civil Rights stated that it will no longer tolerate racial discrimination in educational institutions and will assess compliance with federal civil rights laws. Institutions failing to comply may lose federal funding. The DOE recently cut 29 DEI training grants totaling $101 million. This action follows past efforts, including former President Donald Trump's executive order to end DEI programs in the federal workforce.
