'Stealth plate sprays' that stop speed cameras from recording registrations of cars going illegally fast still on sale on Ebay and Amazon despite call to punish users with tougher penalties

We found at least two products that market themselves as so-called 'stealth plates defender' that illegally make licence numbers undetectable to ANPR cameras.

"Stealth plate sprays" and "ghost plates" designed to evade speed cameras are being sold on eBay and Amazon, despite calls for stricter penalties for users. These products, including reflective sprays and plates, make license numbers undetectable to ANPR cameras. Amazon and eBay have stated they are removing the listings after being contacted by MailOnline. Some drivers are also using "ghost plates" to avoid detection by enforcement cameras. A Labour MP is calling for tougher laws as drivers are currently only being fined £100 if they are caught using a non-compliant numberplate.
