The Welsh dancer received the honour for services to fundraising and raising awareness of inflammatory bowel disease
Amy Dowden, a Strictly Come Dancing professional, received an MBE at Buckingham Palace for her fundraising and awareness efforts for inflammatory bowel disease. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023, she discussed her chemotherapy experience with King Charles during the ceremony. Dowden, who also has Crohn’s disease, has been vocal about her health struggles, creating documentaries to raise awareness. She considers her achievements as the first Welsh Strictly professional and her advocacy work. Dowden, a Crohn’s & Colitis UK ambassador, aims to continue her efforts in promoting health awareness.
