Teacher to appeal preliminary ruling in action against social media posts disciplinary process

The posts, which were deleted shortly after publication, were referred to the Teaching Council by the City of Dublin Education and Training Board (CDETB).

Teacher Gearoid Johnson is appealing a preliminary High Court ruling that upheld the Teaching Council's decision to proceed with a disciplinary inquiry regarding his social media posts from 2015-2016. The posts, concerning Islam, homosexuality, and transgender issues, were deemed by a Teaching Council committee as potentially violating incitement to hatred laws and posing a risk to children/vulnerable adults. Johnson denies wrongdoing and claims the disciplinary action is linked to complaints about his posts.
