Art expert LGG Ramsey has been identified as the thief who stole Anthony van Dyck's "Portrait Wolfgang Wilhelm of Pfalz-Neuburg" from Boughton House in 1951. Dr. Meredith Hale's research revealed Ramsey, then editor of The Connoisseur, exploited his visit to the estate to steal the painting, part of Van Dyck's Iconography series. He then used connections to authenticate and sell it anonymously, eventually leading to its display in an American museum, where it was recognized.
