The Birmingham street where locals are bitterly divided by two pavements as mountains of rubbish pile up on one side amid bin strikes

On one side of Chelworth Road in Birmingham, the pavement is immaculately kept but directly opposite, on the verge run by the bankrupt city council, it is swimming in filth.

Bin strikes in Birmingham have led to mountains of rubbish on one side of Chelworth Road, which falls under the responsibility of the bankrupt Birmingham City Council, while the other side, managed by Worcestershire County Council, remains clean. The uncollected refuse is causing access issues and attracting pests, with some residents claiming rats have become the size of cats. Nearly 400 council bin workers in Birmingham began indefinite strike action last week as part of a row over jobs and pay. Frustrated residents have resorted to adding their rubbish to the pile, and a recent waste collection became chaotic, requiring police intervention.
