TotalEnergies’ Mozambique LNG Poised for Decision on $4.7 Billion US Loan

TotalEnergies SE’s $20 billion liquefied natural gas facility in Mozambique is poised for a decision on Thursday over key financing by the US Export-Import Bank.

TotalEnergies' $20 billion Mozambique LNG project, halted due to militant attacks, awaits a US Export-Import Bank decision on a $4.7 billion US loan originally approved in 2019. Fresh approvals are needed after delays, and the loan requires amendments to reflect a new 2030 completion date. President Trump has recently appointed new board members to the bank. Loan approvals are also pending from UK and Netherlands export credit agencies. TotalEnergies is confident approvals will be granted as many contracts have been awarded to US companies.
