Trudeau says Canada won’t back down as Trump announces reprieve for Mexico

'I can confirm that we will continue to be in a trade war that was launched by the United States for the foreseeable future,' Trudeau said

Trump paused tariffs on Canadian goods under CUSMA until April 2nd. Canada initially responded to U.S. tariffs with retaliatory tariffs on $30 billion worth of U.S. goods and planned to expand the list. Canada will not proceed with its second round of tariffs against the United States until next month, following President Donald Trump’s decision to hit pause for a month on his 25 per cent tariffs on goods from Canada and Mexico that are covered by its free trade agreement. Canada will continue pushing for the removal of all tariffs.
