UK and France will work with Ukraine to present a peace plan to Washington, says Starmer

Zelenskiy, European leaders and Nato chief are meeting in London in wake of Trump’s Oval Office clash with Ukraine’s leader

The UK and France will collaborate with Ukraine to develop and present a peace plan to the United States, as announced by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. This initiative follows discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and French President Emmanuel Macron. Starmer emphasized the need for a unified approach to achieve lasting peace. European leaders, including Zelenskiy, are meeting in London, where the UK has also agreed to a £2.26 billion loan to support Ukraine's military and reconstruction efforts, with costs to be recouped from frozen Russian assets. The move comes after Zelenskiy's recent conflict with US President Donald Trump, which prompted Zelenskiy to seek support in London. Starmer expressed hope that European leaders can demonstrate their capacity to support Ukraine and advance peace talks, highlighting the crisis's turning point and reaffirming the UK's commitment to Ukraine.
