Unvetted staff and overcrowding in asylum seeker accommodation, report finds

A HIQA report on IPAS centers in Ireland found over half lacked effective governance, over a third lacked policies to protect residents, and 35% of staff were not Garda vetted. Overcrowding persists due to limited housing options, with 41% of residents having refugee status or permission to remain. HIQA states the system is under-resourced, impacting accommodation and service quality.
