US employee screening giant DISA says hackers accessed data of more than 3M people
DISA Global Solutions, a U.S.-based employee screening company, reported a data breach affecting over 3.3 million individuals. The breach, discovered on April 22, 2024, involved unauthorized access to sensitive data, including Social Security numbers, credit card details, and government-issued IDs. Over 360,000 Massachusetts residents were impacted. DISA confirmed the breach in filings with Maine and Massachusetts attorneys general but could not definitively determine the specific data accessed due to limited logging capabilities. The company collects personal information such as work history, education, criminal records, and credit history. DISA has yet to respond to TechCrunch's inquiries, and the delay in notifications remains unclear.
