US hints Russia sanctions could ease after Moscow and Kyiv agree Black Sea pause

Both nations have committed to ensuring safe navigation and eliminating the use of force in the sea.

The US hinted at easing sanctions on Russia after Moscow and Kyiv agreed to a Black Sea pause following US-brokered negotiations in Saudi Arabia, committing to safe navigation and eliminating the use of force. The US agreed to help restore Russia's access to agricultural and fertilizer markets, lower maritime insurance costs, enhance port access, and facilitate prisoner exchanges and the return of children moved to Russia. Further planning meetings are expected in the UK to support any future ceasefire.
