US investor awaiting sentence in $2bn fraud case no longer a shareholder, says Clanwilliam Group

Former billionaire Greg Lindberg misused insurance funds for range of purposes including paying women to donate eggs, according to US courts

Convicted US fraudster Greg Lindberg, awaiting sentencing for misusing $2 billion in insurance funds, no longer owns Clanwilliam Group, an Irish medtech firm he acquired in 2014. Clanwilliam's ownership shifted in November 2020 to a UK-based trust, the Clanwilliam Group Trust, with H Steven Wilson as Trustee and Howard Beggs and Gerry Hunt the ultimate controlling parties. Lindberg's misuse of funds included business investments and personal expenses, including paying women for egg donation. A US court has appointed an official to unwind Lindberg's financial empire and reimburse affected insurance companies.
