Viktor Orban, the Prime Minister of Hungary, has warned the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, that Hungary may block the adoption of written conclusions on Ukraine at a special European Council meeting on March 6th. Orban has called for the EU to initiate direct talks with Russia to end the war in Ukraine, suggesting the EU should follow the US example in pursuing dialogue for a ceasefire and lasting peace. He argues that adopting written conclusions could portray a divided EU. Additionally, leaders from over 10 European countries, including Romania's interim president Ilie Bocan and Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, will meet in London to discuss the situation further.
