Woman who had sought protection from deportation in Colorado churches is detained, advocates say

Immigration advocates say a woman who gained prominence after she took refuge in Denver churches to avoid deportation during the first Trump administration has been detained

Immigration activist Jeanette Vizguerra, who created a network of sanctuary spaces for migrants in Denver, was detained by ICE agents outside her job, sparking outrage from family and Colorado senators. Vizguerra, who has lived in Colorado for 30 years and previously faced deportation, was actively posting about the Trump administration's immigration policies before her detention. Separately, Trump's border czar Tom Homan stated he disregards judges' rulings on immigration. A German green card holder was also detained at Boston Logan International Airport.
