Arts Council review to include role of auditors and accountability of board

Prof Niamh Brennan will lead the review, while a parallel review will be conducted of the Department of Arts and Culture itself

The Irish government is initiating reviews of the Arts Council and the Department of Arts and Culture following a €5.3 million loss on an abandoned Arts Council IT project. Prof. Niamh Brennan will lead the Arts Council review, focusing on auditing, board accountability, risk management, and oversight of spending. The Institute of Public Administration (IPA) will conduct a parallel review of the Department, examining risk management and governance oversight, extracting lessons from the Arts Council situation. The reviews are prompted by concerns over financial management and accountability, mirroring issues seen in the RTÉ scandal.
