Children's care home owner sentenced for 'altered' Garda vetting and 'fake' staff background checks

Ideal Care Services owner Karen Akwuobi received a suspended sentence for using altered Garda vetting and fake background checks, exposing vulnerable children in Carlow and Dublin to significant risk. The care home was also fined €3,000 and must pay €2,000 in costs for failing to meet Tusla's staffing requirements. The judge condemned the actions as being "at the high water mark of criminality."
