Figures show burglaries increased by 10 per cent last year, rising by 878 to 9,981
In Ireland, CSO figures for Q3 2024 show a 10% increase in burglaries (878 additional incidents, totaling 9,981) and a 12% decrease in homicides (to 75 incidents). Drug offenses decreased by 6% and sexual offenses by 1%. The Southern region saw the largest increase in burglaries (23%) and the largest decrease in drug offenses (11%). The Eastern region had the largest increase in theft (11%).
