The Irish government is drafting legislation to modify the triple lock on Irish troop deployments, removing the need for UN Security Council approval for peacekeeping missions and increasing the number of troops deployable without prior approval from 12 to 50. The legislation will also clarify the legal framework for evacuating Irish citizens from hostile areas.
