Egypt Resumes Gas Flows to Export Plants Despite Supply Squeeze

Gas flows to Egypt’s two LNG exports facilities have resumed in an unusual move after the country had to turn to imports to meet domestic demand.



Egypt has resumed gas flows to its LNG export plants (Damietta and Idku) after halting exports and importing gas due to aging fields and rising domestic demand. While the timing and duration of exports are uncertain, a first cargo from Idku might be possible in about a year, though Egypt may still need to import fuel for summer power demand.
