Frederick Nwajagu, known as Eze Ndigbo of Ajao Estate, was convicted by a Lagos State High Court on January 16, 2025, for parading as a titled chief without authorization. He has appealed the verdict in the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal, challenging the constitutionality of Sections 26-36 of the 1981 Lagos State Obas and Chiefs Law, arguing they violate Sections 39 and 40 of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution, which保障言论自由和结社自由. His lawyer, Emefo Etudo, filed the appeal, seeking to overturn the conviction and grant him an acquittal. Nwajagu was arrested in 2023 by the DSS for allegedly threatening to bring IPOB members to Lagos, claiming his activities were constitutional and aimed at the Igbo community.
