Irish MEP blocked from entering Israel after attempt to visit Palestine

Lynn Boylan was turned away at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv shortly after landing on Monday.

Irish MEP Lynn Boylan and French-Palestinian MEP Rima Hassan were denied entry into Israel at Ben Gurion Airport while en route to Palestine as part of an official European Parliament delegation. The delegation aimed to monitor EU policies, the Middle East Peace Process, and the use of EU funds, including support for UNRWA. Rima Hassan was blocked due to her support for boycotting Israel. Boylan described the incident as insulting, especially as it coincided with EU-Israel talks, highlighting the EU's significant financial support for Palestine. Their electronics and passports were seized, raising privacy concerns. Boylan intends to pursue the matter with Irish and EU officials.
