Irish surgeon blocked from entering Gaza says doctors are struggling to deal with scale of injuries after Israeli airstrikes

Dr Mohamed Shaalan had travelled to Middle East before latest attacks that killed more than 400

Dublin-based surgeon Dr. Mohamed Shaalan was blocked by Israeli officials from entering Gaza to join a medical mission following Israeli air strikes that killed over 400 people. Australian doctors he was traveling with were allowed in and report a dire need for surgeons. Dr. Shaalan, who volunteered in Gaza previously, believes his Irish passport may be a factor in the denial, citing strained Ireland-Israel relations. Local doctors report massive injuries and exhaustion.
