Joey Barton, 42, arrived at Westminster Magistrates' Court today where he will receive a verdict over charges he kicked his wife in the head, leaving her with a 'golf ball sized' lump.

His wife, Georgia Barton, initially reported the assault to police, stating she was "pushed down and kicked about" and had a "golf ball" sized lump on her head. However, she later withdrew her support for the prosecution in February 2022. Despite this, the High Court ruled the trial should proceed. Barton denies assaulting his wife, claiming it was a verbal altercation.
