London jail adds 110 new beds, top official issues warning to criminals

Ontario’s solicitor general was in London Friday with a blunt warning for criminals.

The Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre in London, Ontario, has added 110 new beds for minimum and medium-risk inmates following a renovation. Solicitor General Michael Kerzner announced the expansion, warning criminals that Ontario jails have space for them. The renovation is part of a larger plan to add 630 beds and up to 200 staff to Ontario's correctional centres and will create up to 45 new jobs in London.
