Nathan McDonnell, sentenced to 12 years for drug trafficking, will remain in Portlaoise Prison due to an ongoing threat from the Sinaloa cartel, despite a recent assault by another prisoner linked to the Kinahan cartel. The cartel, which owned the €32.4 million crystal meth he helped smuggle, is feared to be a greater threat than other inmates, due to concerns he might provide information to authorities.
