New DWP update for nearly 150,000 older people on Attendance Allowance

A new devolved payment will replace Attendance Allowance for people in Scotland this year.

Scotland is replacing Attendance Allowance with Pension Age Disability Payment (PADP). Nearly 150,000 existing Scottish Attendance Allowance claimants will be transferred to PADP in stages throughout the year, starting February 24th, with no action required from them. New PADP claims are open in select areas and will be available throughout Scotland from April 22, 2025, following the same eligibility rules as Attendance Allowance with similar payment rates.
