The government aims to transform the livestock and leather industries by addressing harmful practices, regulating meat processing, and encouraging local production of high-quality leather goods. 90% of Nigerian leather is currently exported, but the government is working to increase local value addition. The government is also supporting poultry farmers, controlling bird flu outbreaks, promoting apiculture, and developing grazing reserves.
